European Lifestyle & Healthy Habits

You might recall how I discussed that keeping up your appearance is one of the Top 5 Fashion Secrets of European Women.  I talked about nourishing your personal style needing to become a healthy habit.  Well, European women also know that their outer style is very much influenced by other nourishing habits, including their love for quality and healthy foods.  I firmly subscribe to this philosophy as well!

So this week, I thought I’d share one of my favorite ways to start off a great day – having a delicious breakfast.  For me, this means I take 15 minutes at home to slowly eat a meal combining protein, carbohydrates, vegetables and fruits.  There are several benefits to this ritual:

·         I start the day off with fuel to keep me moving forward.

·         I’m competitive – so I like to exceed the Daily Five!

·         And the most important one – it helps maintain my bella figura… The same pleasure you derive from developing your personal style, you will get from feasting on luscious foods to help you stay sexy, fit, and fabulous (or should I say, delicious?!).

Speaking of delicious – here’s one of my favorite recipes.  You can prepare a big batch, which makes life really easy in the morning.  Bon appetit!

 Eggs – Mediterranean Style

Requires 13×9 (3 at.) Pyrex® style dish Ingredients:

2 – 16 oz. containers of egg whites

1 – 12 oz. mixed frozen peppers

1 cup of halved grape tomatoes

1/2 cup of chopped and pitted Greek olives

2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil1 tsp. sea salt

1/4 tsp. dried thyme

1/8 tsp. dried basil

Combine all ingredients in dish and stir slightly to mix up ingredients, oil and seasoning.  Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.  Start checking on dish after 30 minutes.  You should be able to insert a toothpick in a firm center.  Let cool for at least 15 minutes before eating.

Optional:

·         Top egg dish with fresh basil

·         Serve with 1 slice of fresh olive/thyme bread or any bread baked at a fresh bakery (i.e. slowly baked and not enriched) and a fresh piece of fruit.
